About Francois
Francois Andre Midas Fibian V
A Letter from Francois
Oh, to live a life vicariously through another – perhaps as a jet setter, a famous star or even James Bond. Jann Harrison has found a way to do just that.
Harrison lives all those personas and more through Francois, the subject of her new series of paintings – The Perils of Francois.
The mythical Francois Andre Midas Fibian V is 6’1” tall, 175 pounds, with a beguiling smile, those large blue eyes and green hair so pale it is almost invisible. His head and hands are those of a frog in caricature, but he is clothed in human form. Francois has a penchant for very dry martinis and never refuses a good cigar. Martinis and cigars often appear in paintings of Francois, a dashing figure and perfect male physical specimen with natural athletic abilities. He is debonair, refined and worldly, yet with irresistible little boy looks.
Francois Andre Midas Fibian V was born April 21, 1958 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is the great, great grandson of the famous Francois Andre Midas Fibian, a southern plantation owner who won the family plantation in a poker game.
Francoise V was born of privilege, well educated and, after rejecting a lucrative law practice, spends his time traveling to the capitals of the world as well as less known and more exotic spots on the planet. His wanderlust is, in fact, a search for the intangible; a live-for-the-moment life that cannot comprehend those things that cannot be bought: true love, honesty, friendship.
Francois is the consummate bachelor, the ever-elusive Prince Charming, who dances better than Astaire, plays the piano and billiards, golf, you name it. He is fluent in seven or eight languages. He has always been a bit of a rogue – a fabulous date, a terrible boyfriend. His philosophy is that very few things in life can be perfect – a martini is one of those things that can.
